Like many players, I suspect, it was the criss-crossing spangram that I saw first – well, it was the word “knitting” I spotted, rather than the full-length 15-letter extravaganza KNITTING PROJECT.
With a spangram taking up a huge chunk of the board I expected the rest of the search to be straightforward, but it kept me hunting for quite a while with its twists and turns – much like, I imagine, the dexterous twists and turns one performs with knitting needles in order to produce some BOOTIES or some MITTENS.
Scarf was notable by its absence – replaced by the far rarer SOCKS; is it because scarves are too easy to knit?

What is NYT Strands?
Strands is the NYT’s not-so-new-any-more word game, following Wordle and Connections. It’s now a fully fledged member of the NYT’s games stable that has been running for a year and which can be played on the NYT Games site on desktop or mobile.
