Netflix’s deal with AMC, which last year saw a host of the network’s content arrive on the streaming service, looks set to continue with the companies expanding their partnership – and taking it global.

The initial deal saw some of AMC’s highest profile shows arrive on Netflix in the US, including Interview with the Vampire, Gangs of London and The Walking Dead: Daryl Dixon. A year on, it seems the move has been a benefit to both parties, with Deadline reporting that the AMC content available on Netflix generated 210 million global views. It was also a savvy promotional move for AMC, with the availability of a bunch of first seasons on Netflix driving subscribers to AMC+ for the continued episodes. For example, The Walking Dead: Dead City season two streams saw an increase of over 700% after season one was featured on Netflix.

This kind of partnership is becoming increasingly common, with UK viewers, for example, being able to stream select Disney+ content on the free to use ITVX service. Even AMC are no strangers to this type of deal, having previously partnered with HBO Max back in 2023.

A big focus on the deal extension is further seasons of the franchises that have already proven to be a hit for Netflix, with AMC Networks CEO Kristin Dolan explaining: “We are pleased to expand and extend our branded content licensing agreement with Netflix, with an even stronger focus on the franchises that are resonating with viewers and performing so well on Netflix.”

In terms of new seasons, then, we can expect to see season two of Interview with the Vampire arrive this month, with Dark Winds season three and The Walking Dead: Daryl Dixon season 2 available in October. The Walking Dead: Dead City season 2 and Anne Rice’s Mayfair Witches season 2 are set to follow.

There’s also a host of titles from the AMC library set to arrive this time out, headlined by the critically acclaimed sci-fi Orphan Black, which boasts a 94% rating on Rotten Tomatoes and became one of the best Netflix shows when it arrived on the platform on September 1, shooting straight into the Top 10, where it’s remained since.

Alongside Orphan Black will be spin-off show Orphan Black: Echoes, as well as This is Going to Hurt, Parish, NOS4A2 and Soulmates. The upcoming debut season of Anne Rice’s Talamasca: The Secret Order will also stream on Netflix.

Dolan also confirmed that the deal extension will also “bring some of our franchise titles, including forthcoming seasons, to Netflix subscribers in select international markets, complementing our own international reach,” and although nothing has been confirmed in terms of which shows will be available where, it’s great news for viewers around the globe with AMC titles historically being some of the tricker shows to find streaming internationally.

It certainly sounds like the partnership between AMC and Netflix will be around for a while yet, with plenty of great shows to look forward to for subscribers of one of the best streaming services.
