Las Vegas entertainment has evolved over the years from featuring easy-listening pop artists in casino theaters in the 1960s, 70s, and 80s, to booking all types of rock bands, including hard rock and metal groups, especially after the opening of The Joint at Hard Rock Hotel off the Strip in 1995.
The venue has since become The Theater at Virgin Hotels Las Vegas.
The Strip has built a reputation over the last 30 years for staging some of the top hard rock and metal bands in the music business in its casino theaters.
Hard rock bands headline on the Vegas Strip
Currently, classic hard rock band Mötley Crüe is finishing its first Las Vegas Strip residency in 12 years with seven remaining shows at Dolby Live at Park MGM Las Vegas.
Tickets remain for shows on Sept. 19, 20, 24, 26, 27, Oct. 1, and 3 at Ticketmaster.com.
Mötley Crüe canceled and rescheduled shows
Mötley Crüe’s shows were rescheduled when the band was forced to cancel 11 shows in March and April, after lead vocalist Vince Neil’s doctors advised the singer that he required a medical procedure.
Another superstar hard rock band, Def Leppard, returns to the Las Vegas Strip for its third residency with 12 shows on its “Live at Caesars Palace The Las Vegas Residency” engagement at the Colosseum at Caesars Palace on Feb. 3-28, 2026.
