Apple A19 Pro Shows Noticeable Performance Gap In Comparison To The A19 Benchmarks

Apple’s newly released A19 and A19 Pro chipsets, which debuted alongside the new iPhone 17 lineup, have undergone detailed benchmark testing, offering insights into their performance differences across CPU and GPU workloads. The A19 powers the standard iPhone 17, while the more advanced A19 Pro is reserved for the iPhone 17 Pro and iPhone 17 Pro Max. Despite similarities in design, benchmarks highlight a consistent performance gap between the two.

In CPU performance tests, the A19 Pro consistently outpaces the A19, even though both appear to use the same core configuration and clock speeds. According to results from Geekbench, the A19 Pro achieved 3,981 points in single-core and 10,798 points in multi-core, while the A19 recorded 3,852 and 10,072 respectively.

When tested under forced cooling conditions, the A19 Pro reached 4,019 and 11,054, compared to the A19’s 3,849 and 10,307. This translates to roughly a 6% performance advantage for the Pro model, which analysts attribute to a possible increase in system-level cache within the A19 Pro.

The GPU results show an even starker contrast, reflecting the reduction of one GPU core on the regular A19. In 3DMark’s Wild Life Extreme, the A19 Pro scored 6,557, whereas the A19 posted 5,736.

On Solar Bay Extreme, the results were 2,411 versus 2,112, and on Steel Nomad Light, the A19 Pro registered 2,956, while the A19 lagged behind at 2,566. Overall, this indicates that the A19 Pro delivers about a 15% stronger graphics performance, making it better suited for demanding applications such as advanced gaming and intensive graphic rendering.

However, the standard A19 is far from underwhelming. Despite its lower performance compared to the Pro variant, the A19 still delivers a significant leap over last year’s A18 Pro found in the iPhone 16 Pro Max. Benchmark reports suggest a 20% improvement in GPU capability over the previous generation, ensuring that even users of the entry-level iPhone 17 benefit from tangible performance gains.

In summary, the A19 Pro is the clear winner for raw performance, offering stronger CPU and GPU scores that will appeal to power users seeking maximum efficiency and gaming capability. The A19, meanwhile, remains a powerful chipset in its own right, delivering substantial generational improvements and ensuring smooth performance on the base iPhone 17.
