Don’t Blink! A record-low price on a security camera

You can’t put a price on your home and family’s safety, but you don’t have to spend a heck of a lot of money to set up an outdoor security system.

The Blink Outdoor 4 camera is an easy and affordable way to add smart home technology to your house, featuring a long-lasting two-year battery, wireless setup, and an included sync module that allows you to respond to visitors, receive alerts and browse footage (captured in 1080p resolution) on your phone.

It cost AU$149 for a single camera unit at launch, but Amazon has since dropped the list price to just AU$99, so it’s already cheaper than earlier this year. Throw in the Prime-exclusive 40% discount and we have a record-low price now – just AU$59 for 1-camera unit.

In fact, you can pick up a bundle pack of two or three cameras too, and they’re all heavily discounted for Prime members right now!

Blink Outdoor 4 (2-camera system): was AU$179 now AU$107 on Amazon
Blink Outdoor 4 (3-camera system): was AU$249 now AU$136 on Amazon

Alexa, I want a smart speaker for under AU$50

A smart speaker for under AU$50? Yes, it’s absolutely possible. In fact, this particular speaker has been just AU$29 in 2024, but I haven’t spied that low price this year yet.

I’m talking about the Amazon Echo Pop, which is available in a few fun colours and would even make a lovely Christmas gift for some one if you’re struggling for ideas when shopping for friends or family.

It’s already Amazon’s most affordable smart speaker and its most compact one too, with Alexa available at your beck and call. You’ll be able to play music, ask questions, set alarms, create shopping lists, check the weather and so much more with just a simple voice command (look, Mum, no hands!).

And it’s now already discounted to AU$47 ahead of Prime Big Deal Days (down from AU$79), making it a good-value purchase for starting a smart home setup.

It’s the morning of October 4 and there’s just a few days to go before Amazon kicks off its October Prime Day sale. That said, the online retail giant has already opened up a plethora of good deals that I just had to share with you.

While most of these deals aren’t as good prices as we’ve seen before, I’ve cherry picked only those that I think are still worth considering. There are currently 79 of them, but I will keep hunting through the weekend and bring you live updates and fresh deals to shop before the rush next week.

Of course, I’ll continue the deal hunting right through the week-long sale (can we call it Prime Week now?) and, with the help of my team, share the best highlights where tech or tech-adjacent products are concerned. Think Apple, Samsung, Sony, Bose, Logitech, Dyson and so many more big brands.

Keep in mind that this Prime Big Deal Days sale in Australia is prelude to the Amazon Black Friday 2025 sale, so don’t expect jaw-dropping low prices right now – although savings will be significant next week – but it gives you a good opportunity to begin your Christmas shopping early.

Happy shopping!
