When Will my Phone Get Android 16?

Google officially revealed Android 16 on 13 May 2025, and big changes are on the way for Android.

A new ‘Material 3 Expressive’ design, redesigned apps, and new customisation options are just a few of the ways in which Android 16 will change your phone. However, with this new look and feel, Android 16 has gone full Gen Z.

The latest version of Android has already landed on Pixel phones, with many other brands in the process of pushing the update, or in the late stages of beta testing as part of their own rollout, under their own skin.

Based on software update commitments, we have a good idea of which Android phones will get the Android 16 update. But when will that be? The timing depends on many factors, including the brand in question and the age of the device.

Here’s an overview of what to expect from well-known brands in the UK and US markets, based on the useful Android 16 Update Tracker, which monitors many of the most popular phones. Not all companies are included here, though, with the likes of TCL, Asus, Nubia, HMD, Huawei and Realme excluded.

Google

Google’s Pixel devices are at the front of the queue when it comes to updates, and that was true for Android 16. The software was released on 10 June and pushed to Pixel phones.

Interestingly, the Material 3 Expressive design change didn’t land with the update. Instead, that was pushed after the announcement of the Pixel 10 phones, with the rollout beginning on 3 September 2025. These are the phones that received the update:

Samsung

Samsung has loads of phones available in the UK and US, and its generous software support means dozens are eligible for the Android 16-based One UI 8.

The rollout of One UI 7 didn’t begin until April 2025, and the One UI 8 update started on 15 September 2025, so One UI 7 could have a really short life on your device. The update started with Galaxy S25, with plans to update S24, S23, Z Fold 6, Z Flip 6, Z Fold 5, Z Flip 5 and more before the end of 2025.

Honor

Honor announced six years of software support in January 2025 and then extended that to seven years for its Magic devices in March 2025, making it one of the best Android manufacturers for Android updates.

Honor has confirmed that the 400, 400 Pro, Magic 7 Pro and Magic V3 will all get Android 16 before the end of 2025, but hasn’t made a specific commitment for other devices. While the company’s Android 16 beta is underway, we’re still waiting for a rollout of the final version to begin.

OnePlus

OnePlus has confirmed that the Android 16 update – in the guise of OxygenOS 16 – will start on 16 October.

The official list has been confirmed by Xiaomi, with a “soft” release set to take place between December 2025 and March 2026. These are the phones that will get the update.

Motorola

Motorola has a significant presence in both the UK and US markets and the company has officially started the Android 16 push with the Edge 60 Pro, Edge 60 Fusion and Edge 50 Pro. You can check the availability of the software update for you device via Motorola’s support pages.

Nothing (including CMF)

The following Nothing phones are still receiving OS updates, and so are expected to receive Nothing OS 4.0, which will be based on Android 16. The company has an active beta programme running at the moment, but has yet to update any phones to Android 16 yet.

Nothing’s first-ever smartphone, the Phone (1), has stopped receiving software updates. But all of its other devices will get it.

Oppo

This will be a precursor to the Oppo Find X9 announcement on 16 October, but will likely then see the company start the roll-out of the Android 16 software to more devices. Currently, there’s no official confirmation of the schedulet. These are expected to receive Android 16:

Sony Xperia

Sony continues to release its Xperia line in the UK and US.

Sony hasn’t made a song and dance about its Android 16 plans, but has already pushed the update to the Xperia 1 VII, beating most other brands.

Asus

Asus offers a number of phones in its Zenfone and ROG Phone series. It also doesn’t have a great track record for support or timeliness with updates. Currently, it has an Android 16 beta running for some of its devices. The following phones are expected to get Android 16:
