Apple Launches New Web App Store With Categories, App Recommendations And A Dark Mode

Apple has introduced a revamped web version of the App Store, offering a richer and more consistent browsing experience that closely mirrors what users see on iPhone, iPad, and Mac. The update transforms the site from a simple listing page into a fully functional platform where users can search, explore, and discover apps directly from their browser.

The redesigned App Store website includes a cleaner interface and a navigation menu in the upper-left corner that gives quick access to sections for Apple’s key product lines — iPhone, iPad, Mac, Vision Pro, Apple Watch, and Apple TV. This structure makes it easy to switch between categories and find apps tailored to each device type.

Just below the device selector, users will find a search field for locating specific titles, followed by links to familiar App Store sections such as Today, Games, Apps, and Arcade. These pages highlight Apple’s curated recommendations, trending downloads, and featured developers — much like the experience offered in the mobile version.

Further down, the store organizes content into distinct app categories, including:

  • Photo & Video
  • Health & Fitness
  • Productivity
  • Entertainment
  • Action
  • Adventure
  • Puzzle
  • Indie Games

This layout helps users explore new apps based on interests or functionality, rather than relying solely on search results.

The new web App Store also supports both light and dark themes, allowing the interface to adapt automatically to the user’s system settings. This visual flexibility gives the site a polished, native feel that integrates well with Apple’s broader ecosystem design language.

In contrast to the older version — which offered only basic listings and links — the new release delivers a much more interactive and complete experience. It lets users browse recommendations, view details, and navigate categories with the same smoothness found in the App Store app.

The platform is already available in many other languages, meaning users can explore it right away through any browser in their respective countries. With this update, Apple continues its effort to streamline the App Store across platforms, ensuring that users enjoy the same quality of design and functionality whether they’re on mobile, desktop, or the web.

The rollout also aligns with Apple’s recent push to enhance developer tools and highlight AI-powered apps, underscoring the company’s focus on innovation, accessibility, and consistent user experience.
