In summary

  • New security update rolling out to Fold 7 and Flip 7
  • Security patches and two new features
  • DeX widgets and Now Bar Google Finance implementation

Users of Samsung’s lates foldable phones are receiving the September 2025 Android security update, which brings more than just bug fixes.

Over in Samsung’s home country of South Korea, the Samsung Galaxy Z Fold 7 and the Samsung Galaxy Z Flip 7 have commenced receiving the September 2025 Android security update. They should be making their way to the rest of the world in short order.

All of which sounds rather dry and boring, but this 700MB(ish) file contains more than the usual patches. Yes, there are two critical software fixes, but it also includes two new features.

New features for the Fold 7 and Flip 7

Following this latest firmware update, the Now Bar will include Google Finance integration, so you can check major stock price changes without unlocking your phone. Perfect for all you stock market wheelers and dealers.

The other new feature relates to Samsung DeX. It’s now possible to add and resize widgets on the home screen in the company’s hybrid desktop interface.

These aren’t massive additions, but the update is notable for including any kind of new feature at all. As we’ve already mentioned, these are typically about closing any security loopholes.

Galaxy foldable rumours

Just because the Galaxy Z Fold 7 and Flip 7 have only just come to market, don’t think this has halted the flow of rumours surrounding Samsung’s bendy line.

Just yesterday we heard claims that Samsung would release an extra full-sized foldable in 2026, with wider displays aimed at heading off the rumoured foldable iPhone.

Prior to that, we heard several murmurings concerning the so-called Samsung Galaxy Z TriFold – the company’s two-hinged foldable, which is seemingly due to launch in severely limited numbers in South Korea this November.
