Strands is the NYT’s latest word game after the likes of Wordle, Spelling Bee and Connections – and it’s great fun. It can be difficult, though, so read on for my Strands hints.

Today’s game featured three rare letters that made the search a lot quicker, with EXAM and QUIZ both very easy to spot.
The rest of the board presented a collection of basic words without any puzzling surprises, making the point that you don’t need an education to complete Strands.
A mark of how simple today’s game was that I completed it without getting any accidental non-game words. Despite usually being tricked by the longer snakes, today I connected COLLEGE and COURSE straightaway.

What is NYT Strands?
Strands is the NYT’s not-so-new-any-more word game, following Wordle and Connections. It’s now a fully fledged member of the NYT’s games stable that has been running for a year and which can be played on the NYT Games site on desktop or mobile.
