The Samsung tri-fold phone is tipped to finally appear in public later this month

  • We may see the Samsung tri-fold on October 31
  • A full launch could happen some time after that
  • The new foldable was first teased back in January

We’ve been waiting for the Samsung tri-fold phone to be officially unveiled for pretty much the whole of 2025, and the latest leak from those in the know suggests it’s finally going to be shown off to the world before the end of the month.

Someone “familiar with the matter” has told Bloomberg that the handset is going to be revealed at the Asia-Pacific Economic Cooperation summit (APEC) in South Korea, which is scheduled to get underway on Friday, October 31.

This isn’t a traditional product launch though: the report says the tri-fold is likely to be displayed under glass, so the various executives gathering for APEC 2025 aren’t going to be able to touch the phone or put it through any kind of durability test.

It’s the second time we’ve heard rumors that the Samsung tri-fold is going to break cover at APEC 2025, and given Bloomberg’s track record, it looks fairly certain that this will come to pass – even if we have to keep waiting to actually go out and buy it.

The waiting game

A previous prediction that we’d see the handset at the end of September clearly hasn’t panned out, though Samsung itself has said the tri-fold is going to launch sometime before the end of the year – and we’re starting to run out of weeks.

There are question marks around availability too: reports have suggested that the tri-fold won’t actually go on sale until sometime in November, though it does at least seem as though it’s going to be launched globally, unlike the some other Samsung foldables.

When the phone does see the light of day, we think it’s going to use an inward-folding design (with an inner and outer screen), and it could well feature three separate batteries and be powered by the Snapdragon 8 Elite processor.

If you’re keen to make this device your next smartphone upgrade, it’s certainly going to cost you: leaks have pointed to a starting price of around $3,000 (around £2,235 / AU$4,640), which is really to be expected from this kind of device.
