Amazon’s new Omni QLED TV is now on sale – but I’d look for this better-value model instead on Black Friday

The Amazon Fire TV Omni QLED has launched at Amazon ahead of Black Friday.

The new model replaces the Amazon Fire TV Omni QLED released in 2023 and promises up to 30% faster performance thanks to a quad-core processor and Wi-Fi 6 support. It is available in 50, 55, 65 and 75-inch sizes. Prices for the new Omni QLED are as follows:

  • 50-inch: $479.99 / £649.99
  • 55-inch: $589.99 / £749.99
  • 65-inch: $849.99 / £1,049.99
  • 75-inch: $1,199.99 / N/A

Like its predecessor, the new Omni QLED supports the Dolby Vision and HDR10+ high dynamic range formats, comes with Fire TV built-in and uses a QLED panel, which Amazon says will be 60% brighter than the original Omni QLED. Also like its predecessor, it’s limited to a 60Hz refresh rate, so don’t expect it to compete with the best gaming TVs.

New features include access to Alexa+, which TechRadar received a demo of during an Amazon event last month. This new feature is a type of AI assistant that can be personalized to help with tasks or used during viewing, such as finding stats for a baseball game or jumping to a particular scene in a movie, as we saw in our demonstration.

It will also have Omnisense tech, which will turn the TV on when motion is detected, and either display an artwork or the Fire TV interface.

If you’re interested in the new Amazon Omni QLED, check it out at Amazon US and Amazon UK.

While the Omni QLED sounds impressive, and there’ll likely be some good Black Friday deals, there’s another TV that potential Fire TV buyers should be looking for: the Amazon Fire TV Omni Mini-LED.

Amazon Omni Mini-LED: the better Black Friday deal

The Amazon Omni Mini-LED has a few features that give it a step-up over the new Omni QLED. Namely, it has a mini-LED backlight for more refined local dimming, better blacks and contrast and more vibrant colors. In our testing, we were also impressed by the Omni Mini-LED’s motion handling, which makes it a great TV for sports.

The Omni Mini-LED has better gaming features as well, with 4K 120Hz, VRR, Dolby Vision gaming and ALLM support. While we aren’t certain about the new Omni QLED’s full features, it does still only support 60Hz, so the Omni Mini-LED is the better option for modern consoles and PC gaming.

Where the Omni Mini-LED really shows its value is in its price. While price will likely drop for the Omni QLED over Black Friday, the Omni Mini-LED is seeing excellent deals of its own. You can get the 55-inch model for $699.99 (was $819.99) at Amazon in the US. While the new Omni QLED is $579.99, you’re getting mini-LED for a better picture and more gaming features.

In the UK, the Amazon Omni Mini-LED is cheaper than the new Omni QLED, with the 55-inch Mini-LED available for £649.99 (was £849.99) at Amazon, which is £100 less than the new Omni QLED’s launch price.

While the Omni Mini-LED may end up pricier overall than the new Omni QLED by the time Black Friday arrives, I believe the Omni Mini-LED will be the better deal thanks to what it has to offer.
