You’re not bad at typing – iOS 26’s autocorrect is broken and there’s still no fix in iOS 26.2

  • iPhone users on iOS 26 say the keyboard has become unreliable
  • A viral Reddit thread shows widespread frustration, from laggy typing to layout changes that break muscle memory.
  • Users are calling for a dedicated fix in the next iOS update.

Have you been experiencing issues with autocorrect since updating your iPhone to iOS 26? You’re not alone, and it’s a serious problem impacting Apple users around the world.

Typing on an iPhone should feel effortless, but right now it really doesn’t, and users have been flooding social media with their annoyances. Since the release of iOS 26, more and more users are reporting that the keyboard feels unreliable, sluggish, and far too eager to change perfectly normal words into something completely wrong.

A Reddit thread titled “It’s not just you, the iOS keyboard is broken” has exploded with complaints, and currently has over 600 comments from users who are fed up with the iOS 26 keyboard.

People aren’t just mentioning the odd autocorrect slip either, they’re talking about a keyboard that feels unpredictable on a daily basis – and considering that’s the main way you interact with the best iPhones, it’s a serious issue that needs resolved fast.

The most common issue seems to be autocorrect rewriting correctly typed words into nonsense. One user said they originally blamed themselves because letters would randomly change after they had finished typing. Another said the keyboard used to be excellent and has slowly become worse with every update.

Plenty of comments mention the same pattern: you type a sentence, it looks fine, you tap send, and suddenly a couple of words have transformed into something you would never write.

There are also reports of missed taps, lag between pressing a key and seeing it appear, and the spacebar triggering punctuation when you never asked for it.

Apple, please fix the iPhone’s keyboard

While the issues are iOS-wide, Safari seems to be causing extra headaches. The keyboard layout in the search bar has changed for some users, which has completely thrown off muscle memory.

While it might sound small, when something as basic as where a key sits changes without warning, it adds to the feeling that the keyboard is falling apart rather than improving, which ultimately leads to complaints.

iOS 26.2 beta 3 recently launched, but there’s no sign of a dedicated fix to the autocorrect woes. One user said, “The keyboard was actually excellent IMO … then it just slowly became worse and worse. Now it’s terrible.”

Another added: “The next software update should 100 % be focused on fixing the keyboard.”

We’ll have to wait and see how long it takes for Apple to react, but this iOS 26 issue is something that needs addressed sooner rather than later, as it’s hindering the iPhone experience as a whole.
